I recently spent two nights at Titicaca Flamenco Lodge, a floating homestay on Lake Titicaca in Peru.

Peru’s cities can be bustling and noisy, but Lake Titicaca Flamenco Lodge offers a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle. Nestled on a private island, the lodge provides an escape into peaceful, serene surroundings, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The gentle lapping of the lake against the lodge and the breathtaking views all contribute to a sense of calm and tranquility.
Choosing Titicaca Flamenco Lodge for my stay was a decision I’ll never regret; every moment there was magical.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from staying on a man-made, floating island. But my stay at the Lake Titicaca Flamenco Lodge blew me away. The highlight is undoubtedly the 180-degree lake view, which you can enjoy from the deck while watching the sunset and listening to the soothing sounds of nature.
Staying at the lodge would be worth it for the view alone, but the amenities don’t disappoint either! The accommodation features charming Peruvian-themed décor, including colorful flower pillows and a California king bed with cozy comforters. Additional amenities include a queen bed, two couches, a heater, an outdoor terrace with seating, and a canopy lounge daybed on the outside deck. Guests also benefit from a private bathroom equipped with all the essentials.
The home-cooked meals were exceptional. Our meals featured soups, chicken, beef, potatoes, vegetables, eggs, and delightful desserts – all prepared with fresh ingredients.
While the lodge itself is a sight to behold, the experiences it offers truly make your stay memorable. We were fortunate to meet our host, Caesar, and his family, who were extremely welcoming. They took time to introduce us to their community and way of life. While Puno is considered a more touristy destination, it has managed to maintain its colorful traditions and is even recognized as the folklore capital of Peru.
One of the highlights of the stay was riding on their handmade Totora boat, a traditional vessel crafted from Totora reed stalks. These boats have been used for 3,000 years in Bolivia and Peru and are a testament to the ingenuity of the Uros people.
As a travel agent, I’ve had the chance to visit many wonderful places in the world. Still, the opportunity to see how the local communities live their day-to-day lives is something I’ll forever cherish and remember.
